It Started With A Poem
In 2011 as her mother bravely battled breast cancer, Crystal Carter wrote a poem entitled "Woman You Are” with her mother’s resilience and victory in mind.
With a simple idea of having a photo shoot to highlight her hair styling talents, God began to show Crystal his plans were much bigger, and that the shoot could be a powerful tool used to equip, empower and encourage women.
As a result, Crystal was able to provide underserved women with a makeover, prayer for their struggles, timelessly beautiful photos and a delicious meal.
Since then, Crystal went on to open her own full-service beauty salon, launched the WYA apparel line, produced photo shoot makeover events and continued using her gift of hair styling to inspire many women to embrace who God made them to be. She’s also collaborated with many inspirational speakers and female-focused businesses to play her part in serving women throughout her community.

After a few years, Crystal discovered the women she served needed more than just a day of pampering and hearing an inspirational message to be able to live a transformed life. She knew they not only needed spiritual guidance, but also needed a renewed mindset and to be part of a supportive community where they had access to educational and professional resources to ensure they could succeed in every area of their lives. So in 2019, Crystal expanded her vision to launch her non-profit, Woman You Are Movement.
Today, Crystal and her team offer counseling and coaching services, self-care seminars, workshops, educational classes, housing and employment assistance, support for victims of domestic abuse, and resources for entrepreneurial and purpose-minded women.
Crystal's goal is to build a multi-faceted brand that will be a beacon of light in the community and throughout the world. She and her team are dedicated to helping women discover who and whose they are, equip them with God's word, and give them unconditional love and support so they’re able to thrive. With the right spiritual and relational tools and a whole lot of unconditional love, Crystal believes these core values of Woman You Are are the perfect recipe to living a victorious life.

wonderfully made
Beautiful you are but never vain
You were not designed to be strong
yet, you are the definition of strength
Woman you are like Mary,
chosen by God to birth forth life.
It is your womb that is needed.
We need you!
You are the nurturer to life.
Woman you are a house that shelters power,
a cocoon for vision,
a vessel that will declare and decree
that the will of God shall be.
You are blessed like Esther,
full of purpose and destined and bound to greatness.
Courage is your name,
equipped with the ability to process pain.
Though you are beautiful
you are never vain.
You may have been mistreated,
not greeted, persecuted, abused,
rejected, unprotected,
misunderstood and unheard.
Life has definitely taken its toll,
but woman of faith,
wilt thou be made whole?
Your life is a testimony
the taste is bitter sweet.
Keep living,
you’re setting the captives free.
Your words of compassion
are healing to the soul,
keeping the young from getting old.
The midwife is needed
to pull many through.
Woman, please continue to do
what you do.
You are a motivator to success.
To love is your mission,
God’s greatest request.
Painted in God’s glory,
God’s finest work.
So trail blaze, woman,
you are blessed!
Woman you are virtuous,
clothed with strength and honor.
Knowledge and wisdom is your scent.
You are powerful and victorious,
trusted by our Creator, walking in favor.
Woman, you fear the Lord,
and you shall be praised.
You are a wife, a mother, daughter, sister,
an aunt, niece, cousin and a friend.
She is you,
chosen by the blood of the Lamb,
created to stand.
Woman you are and woman you will!
